The 18 th Amendment of the constitution of Pakistan received Presidential assent on 19 th April 2010 “Education is no longer a privilege but a fundamental right for all children”
According to Kofi Annan “ The biggest Return on Investment is when you invest in Girls” • Educated women have smaller families with a year’s education reducing fertility by 10 percent • Their children are healthier and are also better educated as they use their own education to nurture the next generation
Education can make the difference
Distressed by the dismal state of society in Pakistan in 1995, a group of concerned citizens ventured into the formation of a non-profit company
The investment went into a community welfare program that would be managed by professionals following the best codes of corporate governance
In August 1995, The Citizens Foundation was formed as a company Limited by Guarantee and registered with the Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan
Seeing too many small children in the streets of less privileged areas, the directors chose a formal schooling model for TCF

• TCF has a nominal monthly school fee* charged to students – PKR 10 – 200 for primary schools – PKR 20 – 300 for secondary schools *The actual operational costs incurred are PKR 833 per child per month
Operational costs comprise of: • Teacher salaries and training • Door to door faculty transport • Management expenses of the school • Central monitoring and evaluation • Curriculum planning • School utilities • Text books and uniforms
