Network-based innovation brokering Three phases: 1. Pre workshop – Invitation, organizing, funding 2. Dialogical workshop (6 hours) – with representatives of SME’s and researchers to ” brainstorm ” and initiate innovation projects 3. Post workshop – Funding decisions – Groups effect innovation projects – Reporting
Conclusions • Network-based innovation brokering strengthens the connections and trust between the members of a SMB network and the relevant community of (mostly regional) researchers • It acts as an arena for learning in which both implicit and explicit knowledge is created and shared • It develops and enhances the general innovation capacity of the regional innovation system • Involves a stronger and more developed role for regional R&D institutions 16
