What is WPAOG? • Alumni Association and raises funds for the Academy • A private 501(c)(3) organization
WPAOG Mission & Vision West Point Association of Graduates (WPAOG) is the Alumni Association for the United States Military Academy (USMA). Its mission is to serve West Point and its graduates; its purpose is to further the ideals and promote the welfare of the USMA. WPAOG’s vision is to be the most highly connected alumni body in the world. 3
It Takes Us All… Why does WPAOG raise funds for West Point? Military personnel and representatives of the federal government are • prohibited by law from soliciting funds, goods, or services. By way of a Memorandum of Agreement with the Superintendent, • WPAOG is committed to fulfilling this task for USMA. Annual gifts and endowments generously given by alumni, parents, families, and friends help bridge the crucial gap – Margin of Excellence . 4

The Margin of Excellence The Margin of Excellence includes: Hands-on and out-of-classroom leadership experiences for • cadets ( often regarded by cadets as life changing ) Cultural immersion opportunities for cadets • Club and athletic team funds and endowments • Renovation and improvements to West Point, the • landmark Academic centers for cadets, the U.S. Army, and the • nation Today about 40% of the Corps of Cadets are afforded opportunities through our Margin of Excellence programs. These programs help cadets become better leaders and continues to rank West Point officers among the BEST in today’s army.
Ways to Give to West Point Annual Giving Annual West Point Parents Fund (established for parents) • Long Gray Line ( West Point Magazine , Alumni Services – Leaders • Conference, Reunions, WPAOG Parent Relations Manager position, and outreach) Army A Club – is apart of the WPAOG Army Corps Squad Athletics (Annual gift; benefit structure) • Class Giving Class Reunion Campaigns (gifts given by graduates and presented on • a 10-year reunion cycle - The Class of 2005 Speaker Series at West Point, West Point Visitors Center, West Point Cemetery Development Project) Restricted Gifts Friends of (USMA Departments, Parachute team, Rugby, etc.) • Major gifts (Army Lacrosse Center, Visitors Center, etc.) • 7
West Point Parents Fund The West Point Parents Fund is a subset of the Superintendent’s Annual Fund. By agreement with USMA, WPAOG asks parents to support the West Point Parents Fund on an annual basis. Gifts to the Parents Fund are unrestricted gifts for West Point. In 2016 during Family Weekend, parents presented a check for $2.4M to the Academy from parent contributions in 2015. ( A-Club, Annual Parents Fund - $720,000, and Restricted – does n s not i include Class ss gifts s by p parents )

Unrestricted Support EVERY GIFT MAKES AN IMPACT Gifts to the West Point Parents Fund for the Margin of Excellence provides support for the following types of activities in 2016:
WPAOG and Advantage Plus a partnership The majority of parents are solicited for the West Point Parents Fund via telephone by a representative calling on behalf of the WPAOG. WPAOG partners with Advantage Plus Consulting, a firm designed to personalize direct mail and telephone outreach to support our annual fund. 12
