District District Health Health and Saf and Safety Protocols ety Protocols • Physical distancing will be practiced in the classroom, hallways, common areas, and throughout the building inside and out. • Daily deep cleaning will occur throughout the campus with an emphasis on high touch surfaces. • Temperature checks will be conducted daily for everyone on campus (faculty, staff, and students). • If COVID-19 cases are identified, campuses will be closed/sanitized. • Notifications will be provided to impacted parents and students if possibly exposed. Instruction will shift to virtual learning if the school closes. • For more information see the Kinder HSPVA Health and Safety Plan. • Students, staff, and anyone on campus will be required to wear masks at all times, which will be provided daily.

District Health District Health and Saf and Safety Protocols ety Protocols • If my child or staff member on campus tests positive for COVID-19, will the building be shut down? • If COVID-19 cases are identified, campuses will be closed/sanitized. Notifications will be provided to impacted parents and students who have possibly been exposed. Instruction will shift to virtual learning if the school closes. • Will HISD notify me if my child is been exposed to COVID-19? • Affected students and families will be notified by their campuses if they have been exposed to COVID19. HISD will follow all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) guidelines and has established the information that will be shared with staff, students, and families regarding a positive COVID-19 case on campus.

What will HSPVA look like if parents select face-to-face instruction? • 233 students (30%) have chosen to return to campus • Current certified HSPVA teachers will provide instruction in the classroom. • Teachers will be delivering instruction on campus and virtually simultaneously through HISD laptops and Microsoft Teams. • Schedule will revert to the Red/Gray block schedule with synchronous and asynchronous instruction. • Physical distancing will be enforced with reduced class sizes. • Physical distancing signage placed around the campus. • Schools will distribute disposable masks daily (one per staff member and one per student). • Grading and attendance policies remain the same as first 6 weeks. Continued… • Disinfectant wipes will be provided for classrooms and campus. • Gloves will be provided for classrooms and campus. • Health screening app will be used by employees for check-in. • Masks are always required to be worn properly by students and staff. • Social activities and campus movement be limited. • Students will take laptops and materials home every day in case the campus suddenly reverts to 100% virtual instruction. • HISD is making decision on attendance if a student is absent from campus but participates in a class virtually. • FYI: Due to consistency across campuses, HISD is not allowing HSPVA students to be on campus for art area courses, while continuing academic classes virtually.

What will HSPVA look like if parents select virtual instruction? • Current certified HSPVA teachers will provide instruction virtually. • Teachers will be delivering instruction on campus and virtually simultaneously via Microsoft Teams. • Schedule will revert to the Red/Gray block schedule with synchronous and asynchronous instruction. • Grading and attendance policies remain the same as first 6 weeks.

Transportation • HISD bus transportation is provided to special education, homeless, and priority students. • Once HISD has preliminary numbers the determination of transportation for all students, including magnet schools, will be made. • If transportation is provided, buses will arrive as usual with students entering main entrance. • If transportation is provided, students will dismiss by bus number exiting through main entrance. • PPE, and wellness screening stations will be at main front doors. How this will work in HISD is still in development.

  9. Arrival/Dismissal • Student drop off will continue on Austin Street with main entrance being used by students. • Student who purchased parking permits will receive those prior to October 19 th . • Students parking in the garage will use Stairwells B or D to enter building. • Students must have medical pass to use elevators. • Elevators will be limited to 2 passengers at a time. • Students will use Stairwell D for dismissal exit to garage. • PPE distribution and wellness screening stations will be at main front doors and at second level of Stairwell D. • Isolation areas on first floor and fourth floor will be available as needed.

Reopening Plan • Will follow same guidelines as academic classes. • Tables and soft seating will be removed. • Desks will be set up in socially-distanced rows and students will have assigned seats. • Students will wipe down their work area two times: once before they sit and once after they stand up to leave. • Teachers will teach from behind a desk or behind a line of tape. • Teachers will teach virtual students and in-person students simultaneously. • Everyone will wear masks at all times.

  12. How Mig How Might ht DANCE DANCE Look? Look? Reopening Plan • Dance studios are taped off in grids. Each space is 7’ x 9’. Max of 17 students in studios. • Studio D will be classroom style with a maximum of 20 students. • Dancers will be required to wear a mask throughout all dance instruction – technique, lecture, and repertory rehearsals. • Dancers come to school underdressed in dance attire to minimize locker room time. • Locker Rooms – Max of 17 students in locker-room at any time - staggered shifts and 6 feet apart. • All dance classes and Repertory will be designed/choreographed to maintain social distancing. No Modern Dance Partnering, Pas de Deux, and Improvisation.

Continued Continued Reopening Plan • Dance Faculty will maintain social distancing from students and only give instruction from Downstage Teacher area. • Dancers will be required to bring a personal towel, re-usable labeled water bottle, designated dance shoes, Long-Sleeve shirts (Modern Dance only), personal small bottle of hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes-personal to class. NO SHARING of any equipment or personal dance items. Department will provide wipes for Ballet Barres only. • Ballet Barres - 3 dancers per portable barre, 4 dancers per permanent barre. • Dancers will clean/sanitize barres, holding area, and grid box before and after class with Faculty supervision. • No use of department microwaves or refrigerator.

  14. How How Might Might INSTRU INSTRUMENTAL MENTAL Loo Look? k? Applies to all instrumental departments Until further notice, wind and brass instruments will remain at home. Time will be used for online instruction and ● academic homework completion, leaving time for practice at home. Instruction for all Instrumental Departments will continue to have a significant reliance on virtual platforms and ● resources to minimize physical exposure and maximize opportunities for proper physical distancing. Focused on instruction, not performances. We will disallow any activities that involve physical proximity of any kind. ● Use of Practice Rooms will be disallowed due to a lack of constant adult supervision and inability to ensure proper ● and frequent sanitizing of all surfaces. We will prohibit sharing of equipment like metronomes, sheet music, accessories, pencils, or any other class ● supplies of any kind (music theory classes included). Students will be dispersed throughout the building whenever necessary to maintain proper physical distancing and ● asked to join classes/activities with their electronic devices. We will include the use of outdoor spaces whenever possible. Teachers and students will sanitize chairs, stands, keyboards, and any other frequently used surfaces and ● equipment before and after every use, utilizing gloves and district approved cleaners. Instrument storage plans will be made after the number of on-campus students is known. ●
