  4. START TIMES Prelims (10 lanes): Warm-up: 7:30 – 8:45 am (Sprint lanes open at 8:00) Start Time: 9:00 am Finals (10 lanes): Warm-up: 4:30 – 5:45 pm (Sprint lanes open at 5:00) Start Time: 6:00 pm

  7. WARM-UPS PROCEDURES Violation Swimmers witnessed entering the water in a dangerous fashion may be • removed from their first individual event following the warm-up period in which the violation occurred and the alternates in that event notified, should that event be a final. In the case of a second offense during the same competition the • swimmer may be removed from the competition. Permitted: • Kick board, pull buoy, snorkel & ankle band in the competition pool during warm-ups and in secondary pool during competition. • Fins, hand paddles and stretch cords in the secondary pool during warm-ups ONLY

  8. WARM-UPS LANE BREAKDOWN Competition pool: • Lane 0 –> para swimmers • Lane 9 –> pace lane • Lane 1 –> sprint lane - one way from starting end – last 45 minutes • Lane 8 –> sprint lane – one way from turn end – (except Thursday where it will be from start end) – last 45 minutes. • Lane 1 –> Backstroke ledge will be available during the last 45 minutes of the warm-up, except on Friday where it will be in lane 8. Secondary pool: • Lane 1 reserved for para-swimmers at all time ONLY SWIMMERS COMPETING IN THE SESSION SHOULD USE THE COMPETITION POOL.

  9. COMPETITION MANAGEMENT INFORMATION Dive over starts for prelims / Pool cleared after each heat in finals . • Distance Events – 800 & 1500 – fastest youth and fastest senior heats swim during • finals Events with 10 or less entries, after the scratch deadline, will swim in finals only, • except for para events. Swim-offs – all swim-off will take place during the preliminary session in which the tie • occurred. Finals • Olympic program: A Finals for all individual events with B Finals in individual events • with 20 or more entries (para swimmers excluded), per age category (youth & senior), entered following the preliminary scratch deadline for the event. Paralympic program: A Finals only – maximum of 3 swimmers per sport class. • Should an empty lane remains following this, additional swimmers will be added to fill the A final according to the point score. Finals sequence: B – A – B (awards presented during the B) •

SCRATCH PROCEDURE Deadlines: Thursday Preliminaries (including time final events): 30 minutes post Technical Meeting Friday to Sunday Preliminaries (including time final events) : 30 minutes following the start of Finals the previous evening (6:30) Finals: 30 minutes following preliminary events of the day (excluding time final events) Email scratches NOT accepted •

READY ROOM PROCEDURES • Positive check in at the clerk of course during warm-ups • Swimmers (all A & B finalists) report to ready room 15 minutes before scheduled start of their race • A finalist will not be marched on. They will be released during the previous B final and introduced during their race, except for 50s. • B finalist will not be marched on. They will be released during the previous A final and they will be introduced during the race.

  12. PENALTIES Penalties for no show (heats and finals) - $50 for any late scratches, • step-down, unexcused incomplete swims. Prelims: fine must be paid during at the end of the session at the • latest Finals: fine must be paid immediately. Swimmer shall not swim • subsequent event (in any session) until the penalty has been paid.

  13. EVENT START • Events (except for 50m events) will start on side close to kiddy pool. • 50m events will start on the window side.

  14. BACKSTROKE DEVICES • The Inspector of Turns (IT) will install the device • The IT will also ensure the device is set at 0, initially • The IT will check the strapping is free of any twists or knots and also that the wedge/ledge is sitting flat against the wall. • The swimmers are responsible for setting the device. They may request the help of the IT for setting the device to the desired level.

  15. RELAYS • Relays are time final events • All relays will be swam during prelims sessions with fastest heat during Finals, except for the Mixed Medley Relay on Sunday which will all be swum during Finals. • Completed relay form will be available at the Clerk of Course table during scratch period. All relay forms must be returned before the scratch deadline even if no changes from initial entries. Changes can be made up to 30 minutes from the start of the session during which they will be swam. • Note: if a club wants to use this opportunity to qualify a relay for the 2019 Canadian Junior Championships, ensure that swimmers on these teams are within the following age categories: Female 13-17 and Male 14-18.

FOREIGN ATHLETES Olympic Program • A maximum of two (2) foreign swimmers will be permitted to advance to an “A” Final OR seeded top 10 in a time final event. • A maximum of two (2) foreign swimmers will be permitted to advance to a “B” Final. • A maximum of one (1) foreign alternate for B finals will be named where applicable and will only be moved into the B Final with the scratch of another foreign swimmer. • Foreign swimmers will swim Exhibition during Finals.

  17. DQ’S AND PROTESTS Di Disqualifications: § Disqualifications will be announced and include event number, heat number and lane number. Pr Procedur ocedure e for or pr prot otes ests: § Discuss DQ with the session Referee § If not resolved, a written protest may be presented to the Referee within 30 minutes after the conclusion of the ev event ent (protest forms will be available at the Clerk of Course) § If not resolved after discussion of the written protest, the matter may be assigned to a Jury of Appeal.

  18. JURY OF APPEAL • Chaired by: National Meet Manager • 1 appointed coach among the following coaches (least biased to the swimmer involved in the appeal and no vested interest): • Darren Ward - ON • Moira Milward – NS • Brian Kelly - QC • 2 or 4 officials

  19. OPERATIONS & ADMINISTRATIVE CONDUCT

ACCREDITATION / SECURITY • Accreditation will be required to gain access to the locker rooms and then pool deck. • Access to the pool will be through the locker rooms and past the main security checkpoint. • ALL athletes, coaching staff and support staff must have accreditation. Individual without accreditation will not be permitted pool access. • Lost accreditation will be replaced at a cost of $60.00 per accreditation.

GENERAL FACILITY INFORMATION Facilities Rules • - No outdoor shoes allowed on deck - No bottle of water will be provided – please bring refillable bottles - All locks need to be removed every night - No backpack in front of the ventilation • Parking - The parking is free for everyone for the whole meet. • Hospitality – - Light Refreshments will be served throughout the meet and 3 meals per day

  23. PARA-SWIMMING DEVICES • Tapping & starting devices will be verified and approved at the end of this meeting.

HEAT SHEETS & RESULTS Prelims and Final Sheets: • Available daily at the Clerk of Course desk • Posted on the web as soon as they are ready Results: • Posted after each event on the pool deck, at Clerk of Course and upstairs • Available on SplashMe • Posted after each event at: http://results.swimming.ca/2019_Speedo_Eastern_Championships/

  25. MEET SCORING • Individual events, places 1 – 20: • A final: 50-30-20-19-18-17-16-15-14-13 • B final: 12-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 • Relays events, places 1 – 10: • A final: 100-60-40-38-36-34-32-30-28-26 • Para events will not be scored • Foreign swimmers are not eligible to score points

AWARDS Medals for 1 st , 2 nd , 3 rd place for Canadian • • Commemorative medals for Foreign Swimmers placing in top 3 Eastern Canadian Team Championship banner (excluding para events) • Canadian Male and Female High Point Aggregate by age group (5-2-1) – Olympic • program Canadian Male and Female High Point Aggregate (5-2-1) – Paralympic program • If a swimmer is unable to attend their award ceremony, please send a fully uniformed • substitute swimmer in their place
