Subjects Predicates
Every complete sentence has two parts: subject and predicate • The subject is the who (or what) the sentence is about. • The predicate tells what the subject does.
EXAMPLE: Judy and her dog run on the beach every day. SUBJECT • Who? Judy and her dog • What do they do? PREDICATE run on the beach everyday.
To Find the PREDICATE: • Ask what does it do? • Find the verb (action or linking) • Draw a vertical line before the verb • The predicate is the rest of the sentence.
