English in Year 7 Year 7 students study a new topic each half term: Topics: Assessed by: 1 Studying Literary Heritage Poetry Students will write an essay analysing an unseen poem in October . 2 Creative Writing Students will write their own adventure story in December . 3 Shakespeare – ‘A Midsummer Night’s Students will perform a key scene from the Dream’ play in March. 4 Media Students will present their idea for a survival mission to the class in February . 5 Studying the Novel Students will write creatively in response to a novel in May . 6 Reading Comprehension Students will read and respond to a critical text in July.
