  5. 2018 Ballot Questions ❖ Eight statewide ballot questions submitted by the filing deadline • Random sampling process being conducted on an estimated 18,104 petition sheets with 216,125 submitted signatures ❖ 2016 costs associated with ten ballot questions • $190,051.68 for counties to publish full text of ten Ballot Questions in official newspapers • Cost to print Ballot Question Pamphlets • State – Printed 25,000 copies at a cost of $8,285 • Counties – 60 of 66 counties provided costs for additional copies, totaling $6,113.71 ❖ SDCL 12-13-27 If a statewide ballot question is placed on Primary Election ballot, the state shall reimburse each county for any costs incurred as a result of this section.
