INTRODUCTION In 2001 Steel Line was approached by an established playground equipment supplier to manufacture stainless steel deck slides for playgrounds. These slides ranged from 900 – 1800 mm in height. Within a year the company had expanded sales to a number of other equipment suppliers and was also receiving enquiries from a growing client base for stainless steel embankment slides, which were generally longer and often double width (1m). Creating a web page shot the company onto the 1st page of Google and generated a regular flow of enquiries, which soon included variations such as curved and tubular slides plus features on straight slides such as ‘waves’ and anti-cycle/launch bars. Steel Line’s slide products comply with the European standard EN1176 and currently we produce slides from 450mm – 4m wide and 600mm – 8m in height. Slides of the latter height require site assembly, welding and polishing which we undertake with our specialist site team. There is a growing demand for slides used internally by offices and private homes and a wide range is posted on our website and in this literature, which is not exhaustive! Because we offer a bespoke manufacturing service in this market sector, architects ask us to produce somewhat unique features to liven up the playground/playpark experience. These are illustrated on our website and in this product literature. A growing number of sales are coming from international markets and so far the company has exported slides as far away as the USA and Australia. The list of options is never exhaustive. If our manufacturing facilities can produce the design we will look at any new PRIVATE INSTALLATION products the play market requires. S C U N T H O R P E

2m WIDE WAVY SLIDE WAVY SLIDES P O R T S M O U T H This is the largest slide produced by the company to date and was ordered by the National Trust and installed at Cliveden House, Buckinghamshire. Manufactured in 3 sections and 8m high the slide was delivered to site using lorry mounted crane with 2 supporting vehicles. Company engineers then welded the 2.5m wide slide sections together ensuring all welds were ground smooth and then manoeuvred the structure into place onto one of the building’s parapets. Subsequently the slide was disassembled back into 3 sections and re-erected at another site in the same grounds. SPEEDY SLIDERS ENJOYING THE RIDE AT CLIVEDEN! 7 8
