Our Client “WFYI Public Media empowers, educates, entertains, and connects our community through ● impactful journalism, inspiring stories and lifelong learning.” ● Located downtown Indy only 15 minutes from Butler’s campus ● WFYI produces radio, television, movies, and many other types of media production ○ PBS is owned and run by WFYI!
Our Project: Eva’s Story The main goal of our project is to help maintain and preserve a Holocaust ● survivor named Eva’s story She had a profound impact on the world as a leading advocate for justice ● for those (especially twins) who were tested and abused in these camps During her life she impacted many people and helped to bring a first ● person perspectives to the horrors of concentration camps during WWII While she was still alive she helped bring education about that time in ● history to places around the world, but specifically in Indiana
What are We Doing? Make a virtual garden that lives on a WFYI website that allows users to create and plant ● flowers with a message about how Eva’s story has affected them and their lives Make it so other people’s flowers are visible to users ○ Sharing capability to spread the word about Eva’s story and this garden project ● Role this out along with the 75 anniversary of the liberation from auschwitz ●
Sprint 1 Goals Meet with the client several times to discuss Eva’s story and what their vision for the project is ● We really want to be sensitive to the story of Eva and do a great job to preserve her legacy ○ Design Epics Website page for this semester ● Photo, team members and roles, description of project ○ Preliminary work on programming basic garden ● Canvas ○ Graphical flower design ○ Collect user input and put it into a database ○
Moving Forward (Sprint 2) Have a basic prototype by Halloween for our clients ● User inputs their information and then a dot or icon shows up on the canvas background ○ Basic flower design ready to start implementing into the garden ● Meet with WFYI Webmaster to discuss implementation process onto live servers ● Meet with client again and present prototype and discuss goals moving forward into ● Sprint 3
