Meeting the needs of an especially vulnerable population: NICU infants and their families
SBEHS targets premature, low birth weight babies admitted to the NICU at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital
Program staff provide support and psycho- educational services to families with children at great risk for developmental difficulties
The challenges faced by our infants and parents are exacerbated by their exposure to chronic social stressors linked to poverty
Promoting maternal sensitivity and infant responsiveness
Minimizing parents’ stress and anxiety and building confidence in their abilities as caregivers
Supporting attachment and bonding
We strive to enhance parent-child interaction both in the NICU and after discharge in order to prevent disruptions to the attachment process which threaten the social-emotional development of our infants
