Housing and Homelessness In 2018, the City saw major shifts in how it delivers Housing and Homelessness Services: • Restructuring - Housing became a part of Social Services • System Review of the Housing and Homelessness system - housing resources need to be dedicated to ending homelessness • Peterborough joined municipalities across Canada in Built for Zero – a change movement to end homelessness
10-year Housing and Homelessness Plan Review – Strategic Directions Two key priorities: Ending Homelessness and Building Housing Staying Housed: • New Housing Funding • Built For Zero - committed to ending • Ontario Priorities Housing Initiative chronic homelessness by 2025 • Canada-Ontario Community Housing • Coordinated Access and By-Name Initiative List • Networking and sharing best practices • Smaller allocations than previous years with other BFZ communities across • Innovative ways to leverage funding the country • Leadership and guidance from experts
Children’s Services • The City of Peterborough is the designated Consolidated Municipal Service Manager (CMSM) for the delivery of Child Care and Early Years. • As the CMSM the City administers: • Child Care Fee Subsidy program • Special Needs Resourcing • Wage and Operating grants • The CMSM is also responsible for planning, managing and funding the EarlyON Child and Family Centres • The City directly operates four child care programs • The CMSM ensure local early years and child care service providers meet a high standard of quality and safety

Community Wellbeing Plan The Community Wellbeing Plan establishes local government priorities to improve the quality of life for people that live in the City and County of Peterborough and Curve Lake First Nation. The Plan identifies those community priorities and some of the lessons learned about community engagement along the way. Phase 1 - Planning to plan Phase 2 - Community engagement: identifying priorities Phase 3 - Community engagement: focusing on solutions Phase 4 – Drafting the report: applying the principles The Community Wellbeing Plan will be presented to Joint Service Steering Committee on October 24, 2019. The final report will highlight the guiding principles, the key themes and the lessons learned in community engagement.
