PURPOSE OF THE PRESENTATION The purpose of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) is to provide a uniform standardize procedures and role clarification in planning and execution of an NPO Roadshow as an event by ensuring that the process is all inclusive. Roadshows SOPs intends to minimize variation and promote quality through consistent implementation of process, even if there are temporary or permanent personnel changes Road Shows are part of the resolution of the National NPO Summit held in 2012 3

Objectives of the Roadshows To bring services to the community inline with Batho Pele principles To increase awareness on issues and practices related to NPO regstration To increase level of compliance to NPO Act To serve NPO clients on registration queries and other related matters To provide information sharing on NPO funding opportunities 4

  5. Roadshows cover the ff Onsite registration Onsite submission of reports Onsite checking of the application status Information session about Unit Compliance requirements SARS: on Public Benefit and status issues Lotteries Board: Funding and application NDA : Programme Funding 5

  6. Roadshows will achieve the ff Reaching target audiences Accessing services Encourage increase in compliance to NPO Act Increase awareness on resource mobilization Increase awareness on government funding and mechanisms 6

Lessons Learnt • There is a great need for Capacity Building to NPOs especially on compliance matters • Capacity Building of DSD staff ( CDPs and SW Coordinators) on NPO related matters • One day per LM for Road Show is not sufficient, this is due to the number of NPOs who need services provided during the Road Shows • More tools of trade should be provided to NPO Coordinators at a District Level 12

  13. FUTURE PLANS • Develop a schedule for the next quarter • Intensify capacity building on NPO compliance • Conduct mini Road Shows ( Ilima)in areas where non compliance is high • Impact assessment in areas where road shows have been conducted 13
