Sharing: Transmission of HIV during Injecting 6 Ways SW-IDUs put themselves at risk of HIV beyond using the same syringes/needles
Messages • Our main message for the “safer injecting” theme is: Use a sterile syringe and needle each time you inject • Mistakes are often made during cleaning so we do not encourage cleaning or reusing N/S. • IDUs in Vietnam, including IDU-SWs put themselves at risk sharing injecting equipment other than needles and syringes because they do not see it as high risk for HIV transmission. • This session helps us understand common ways IDUs put themselves at risk of HIV so we can build their awareness and risk perception.
