SEQOHS – the past 2004 Department of Health - Standards for Better Health 2008 Lord Darzi’s Report - High Quality Care for All: NHS Next Stage Review 2008 – Dame Carol Black’s Report - Working for a Healthier Tomorrow - ‘An integrated approach to working age health should be underpinned by clear standards of practice and formal accreditation for all providers’ The Faculty of Occupational Medicine launched the standards in 2010 (updated in 2015)

  3. The Standards SEQOHS standards were launched in 2010 and updated in April 2015 13 standards in 6 domains: Business probity Relationships Information with governance workers Domain G SEQOHS Construction NHS Relationships with People Purchasers Facilities and equipment Physiotherapy OH Service accreditation

  4. Vision versus reality: Accreditation Re-accreditation Not Performance re-accredited Standard Year 1 Year 5 Year 2 Year 3 Year 4

  5. Has SEQOHS made a change? A total of 1808 ‘key actions’ A total of 2221 ‘recommendations’ September 2018 – September 2019 – 46 Visits • 18 Services Deferred (39%) • 32 Services received Recommendations (67%) 40 were re-accreditations and 16 were Deferred (40%) • A total of 87 Key Actions (across 18 deferred services) • A total of 114 Recommendations (across 32 services)

  6. What did we learn? • Training • More guidance for OH Services • Consistency of assessments • Assessor training • Unsafe practice does exist Meeting the Standards - is it for the service or just SEQOHS?

Feedback: “Gives assurance to purchasers” “I would like to comment on the very thorough yet approachable and professional manner of our assessors. “…not only helps businesses implement good corporate governance and information security but is firmly focused on improving the overall standard of occupational healthcare”
