October 9, 2019 MPI Exhibit #48 Evaluation: Enhanced Enforcement program Reach/Output Summary Campaigns (2018 fiscal year) Enhanced Enforcement RoadWatch • Officers logged 7,593 enforcement hours to support the RoadWatch program, up 10.4% from the previous year • 231 Driving While Impaired (DWI) offences were issued, up 7% from 2017 • Costs: $388/offence issued (all); $90/enforcement hour Distracted Driving • A total of 5,525 enforcement hours were logged to support the program, up 51% compared to 2017 • 2,402 offence notices were issued for handheld electronic device use while driving, a 10% decrease from 2017 • Costs: $99/offence issued (all); $79/enforcement hour School Zone • A total of 949 enforcement hours were logged to support the program, a 25% increase from 2017 • 651 HTA speeding offences were issued, up 1.5% from 2017 • Costs: $69/offence issued (all); $66/enforcement hour 15
