RESAF BURUNDI SPRL : Company presentation Mission: RESAF Burundi is a company whose mission is to be a key player in agribusiness and renewable energy. Vision: To become a key partner of world development through energy and sustainable agriculture. Values: Our values are summarized in our slogan: "Together, we are confident to succeed ’’ WHY RESAF BURUNDI ? Burundi is a very landlocked country of 27 834 Km2, including water about 2.150 Km2. It is located between three countries in north by Rwanda, South and south East by United Republic of Tanzania and west by Democratic Republic of Congo. The average population, mainly rural is about 10.5 inhabitants, where only 11% is living in towns and cities such as Bujumbura, Gitega and Ngozi. Female represent 67% and literacy rate is 62%. 65% of Burundi population is living below poverty limit. It is one of the poorest in Africa. However, it has abundance of natural resources such as nickel, uranium, rare earth oxide, peat, copper, cobalt, tin, caolin, platinum, rivers for hydropower production, gold, tantalum, niobium, tungsten, limestone, and many others. Burundi farmers grow crops and rear animals to feed their respective families. They farm especially coffee, tea, beans, banana, corn, sorghum, sweet potatoes, cassava and rice. Coffee, Tea and cotton remain mainly export commodities. The population growth is 3.10% where the GDP is USD 3 billion whereby the GDP growth is estimated to 1.9% in 20018 1 . And again, Burundi is having the first lowest population access to energy in the whole East Africa Countries. This situation is not sustainable and could lead to a catastrophic situation of crisis. On renewable energy, we started with solar lamps assembly and sales. Solar lamps spare parts were sent by Germany partner Solux Gmbh and assembled locally in Burundi to produce lamps bearing 5 year warrantee. 4
WHAT NEXT? We are looking for partners to implement project together in renewable energy and agriculture sectors. We are having agriculture projects looking for support in agriculture such as production of animal feed, bio fertilizers and juice production. Energy projects as solar mini grid and solar off grid energy on SMEs offices and plants. Though our experience under grants management, we are committed to manager grants at the satisfaction of the donors. We are also humbly ready to negotiate equity funding on given selected projects.
