BACKGROUND Relief to Development Society (REDESO) is a Tanzania registered National NGO in 1998 under the society Ordinance (S.O. No. 9459 of 1954). In 2018 REDESO succeeded to acquire the Regional certificate to operate in Uganda.

IMPACTS OF REFUGEES TO THE ENVIRONMENT Deforestation due to high demand of firewood (cooking energy) and construction materials for refugees houses Rivers and water sources pollution Soil erosion due cultivation activities, camp setup and construction activities Conflict between the refugees and the host community due to sharing of scarce natural resources Poaching of wildlife from protected area (Moyowosi-kigosi game reserve)

GAPS • In adequate funding particularly in Energy sector • Poor participation of private sectors in humanitarian settings specifically in Tanzania
RECOMMENDATIONS • Donor/Humanitarian actors should increase funding to energy sector specifically in cooking energy for Refugees. • The private sector is encouraged to involves in the humanitarian streamline
