REIMAGINING CHURCH Luke 5:1-11
IMAGINE 1. God is faithful. God is with us. 2. This is nothing the Church hasn’t faced before FOUNDATION Nothing can separate us from the love of God. Christians have been reimagining how to communicate that love for 2000 years We are called to be missionaries more than members. With the Spirit’s help, we can adapt to anything.
1. The Building Blocks Identifying what is life-giving Think of a time when you felt connected to God “To be sure…people need to experience the love of God as they are led into the mission of God. If they don’t feel loved, they will likely not let anyone lead them anywhere.” - Tod Bolsinger
TAKE AWAY What is one “building block of faith” that is most central for you? 2. Intentionally Making Space Clearing away so there’s room to play People don’t resist change, they resist loss.
TAKE AWAY What is one thing you would like to see your church “prune” or “clean out” so there is room to play? Who is the first person you would need to talk to about this? Who might be most affected by this “loss” and how can you and others care for them? 3. Words Create Worlds Changing our language LANE SHIFT! 1. What aspects of this shift feel important to you? 2. What’s one specific way you can imagine your congregation living into this shift?
TAKE AWAY What is one thing you feel most drawn to in what you have heard? Who can you share this with at your congregation? 4. Relational Pathways Following the relationships that already exist TAKE AWAY Try to list as many people as possible who fit these two criteria: 1. You would call them a friend 2. They are not connected to a faith community Now prayerfully consider: Is the Spirit leading you to dig deeper into any of these relationships? Are any of the “building blocks of faith” we listed a potential source of strength for any of them?
