Freshman Academy Goals  Our plan serves as the “roadmap” for accomplishing our school’s mission and vision for Freshman Academy.  Our plan identifies our core values, goals and strategic priorities for the development and implementation of the Freshman Academy.  Our plan contains realistic benchmarks, measures of progress over time tied back to our priorities  Our plan has been developed with input from all stakeholders at our school, including administrative staff and teachers, students parents, community members.  Goal 1: Attendance  Goal 2: Behavior  Goal 3: Course Completion

Core Values/Beliefs of the Freshman Academy Staff  Create a nurturing, student-centered learning environment.  ~ We believe all students deserve the opportunity, resources and support to be successful and accountable for their learning.   Foster a culture of social and civic responsibility.  ~ We believe students are bright, intelligent and capable of learning and contributing to the world around them.  ~ We believe students should be encouraged to get involved in sports, clubs or other extra-curricular activities.  

Core Values/Beliefs of the Freshman Academy Staff  Foster a culture of self-acceptance, respect of self and a respect and concern for others.  ~ We believe a culture of mutual respect, communication and collaboration among students, their families, teachers, and administrators will foster and promote cognitive, social and emotional growth in students.  Create a culture of self-empowerment and social and intellectual risk taking.  ~ We believe promoting student awareness of postsecondary education and/or vocational needs and options will help students better plan for college and/or career success throughout high school and beyond.   Support the development of a rigorous and relevant curriculum.  ~ We believe a rigorous and relevant curriculum will challenge all students and foster student engagement. 

The Strategic Planning Document Goal One: Promote academic excellence by engaging all students in the high school experience with a rigorous and relevant education to prepare them for college and/or careers. Outcome 1.1: Over a three-year period, increase the graduation rate to 70% while increasing the number of students accepted to college and prepared to enter the workforce. Overall Approach/Strategy: Our School District’s motto is “ Reaching for Excellence .” If we are to increase the number of students who earn a high school diploma, we must ensure that all students have access to rigorous, high quality curriculum , aligned to the Common Core State Standards. A rigorous, high quality curriculum means that teachers hold high expectations for students and that all students are challenged. We recognize that students and families must have choices in their education. Aside from the general core curriculum, opportunities for Advanced Placement, Dual Credit, classes in the arts, business ,or career education industry certification afford students and families such choices. Our expectation is that our graduates are truly “ Reaching for Excellence.”

Outcomes: Over the course of the 2015-2016 school year: 1.Decrease freshman dropout rate by 5%. 2.Increase the daily attendance rate by 5%. 3.Decrease the habitual truancy rate by 5%.
