  2.  La Larynx ynx : -The muscle in this section is called Vocalis Muscle ((which is a striated (skeletal) muscle )) and is found in the true vocal cords. -Notice the infraglottic glands (in the false vocal cords) and the respiratory epithelium. -Look for the vocal cords which are devoid of large blood vessels , they contain small capillaries ONLY.

  3. Voc ocal al Ligament gament Glands ds Voc ocalis alis Muscle scle False Vocal Cord True Vocal Cord

  4.  La Larynx ynx: -Notice the ventricle ntricle that separates false vocal cords from the true vocal cords.

  5.  Lar aryn ynx -Vocal Cords: True & False ventricle

  6. Capillary blood vessel

  7.  Larynx: -True vocal cords. -False vocal cords.

  8.  Tr Trachea chea : - Cross Section. -Which type of muscles is present in this section ? Esophagus Spindle-shaped smooth muscle cells.

  9.  Trachea hea : -Monkey, plastic section. -Look for : -Tracheal Glands. -Goblet Cells. -Basement Membrane. -Epithelium.

  10.  Trac ache hea -PAS reaction -Look for: Basement Membrane ( acellular, continuous, thick homogenous line beneath the epithelium). Mucous + goblet cells(violet staining)

  11.  Ext xtrapulmonary apulmonary ( P ( Primar mary) y) Br Bron onchus hus.

  12. Extrapulmonary  Trac ache hea a an and Extr trapulmo ulmonary ry Bronchus Bronchu chus. s. The main difference between them is that: -Trachea: contains C- shaped cartilage (continuous). -Primary Bronchus: Trachea contains Pieces of cartilage around the circumference (Discontinuous).

  13.  Lu Lung ng Tissue ssue -Special Stain (PAS) -Intrapulmonary Bronchi. -Look for: -Cartilage. -Goblet Cells.

  14.  Intra trapulmonary ulmonary Bronch onchus us. -Secondary Bronchus. -Pieces of cartilage compassing the whole circumference. -Few goblet cells in the lining epithelium. -Few seromucous glands in the submucosa. -Epithelium: pseudostratified ciliated columnar. -Increased number of smooth muscle patches around the circumference. -Increased number of lymphatic nodules (plates).

  15.  Intr trapul apulmona monary ry Bron onchus hus. (se second ondar ary) y)

  16.  Intra trapulmonary ulmonary Bronchus. nchus. -Terti rtiary ary Bronchus. -Continuous smooth muscle layer (causing tortuosity in the lining epithelium) -Cartilage : 1-2 pieces, not circumferentially distributed. -Paucity of goblet cells. -Paucity of seromucous glands . -Epithelium: Pseudostratified ciliated columnar.

  17.  Int ntrapulmonary apulmonary ( T ( Tertiary) tiary) Br Bron onch chus. us.

  18.  Lu Lung ng Tissue: ssue: -Bronchioles (terminal & respiratory) -Alveolar duct. -Alveolar sac. -Alveoli.

  19.  Lu Lung ng Tissue ssue : -Atrium. -Alveolar duct. -Alveolar sac. -Alveoli.

  20.  Lu Lung ng Tissue: ssue: -Alveolar duct. -Alveolar sac. -Alveoli. -Cells: Type 1. Type 2. Endothelial . -Pleura. -Mesothelium.

  21.  Lu Lung ng Tissue: ssue: -Terminal Bronchiole. -Alveolar duct. -Alveolar sac. -Alveoli.

  22.  Lu Lung ng Tissue: ssue: -Bronchi. -Terminal bronchiole.

  23.  Lu Lung ng Tissue: ssue: -Bronchi. -Terminal bronchiole

  24.  Lu Lung ng Tissue ssue

  25.  Lu Lung ng Tissue: ssue: -Thick section. -Bronchi. -Bronchiole. -Pleura.

  26.  Lu Lung ng Tissue: ssue: -Bronchiole. -Pleura. -Macrophages (dust cells)>> Black-colored cells {see next slide}

  27. Dust Cells

  28.  Lu Lung ng Tissue: sue: -Respiratory Bronchiole.

  29.  Lu Lung ng Tissue ssue : -Pleura. -Bronchiole. -Alveolar sac. -Alveoli. -Macrophages (dust cells).
