M ASS APPEAL EXERCISE Students, who wish to appeal for a transfer of school due to any of the following reasons, may participate in the Mass Appeal Exercise (MAE): 1. Serious Medical Conditions 2. Dyslexia and Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) 3. Physical Disabilities 27
M ASS APPEAL EXERCISE Reasons that will be considered for Mass Appeal: 1. Serious Medical Conditions (E.g. chronic heart or kidney conditions) An official letter from a certified doctor must be attached to the application 28
M ASS APPEAL EXERCISE 2. Dyslexia and Autistic Spectrum Disorder Submit a comprehensive report written by a relevant professional (e.g. psychologist, speech and language therapist). Other documents may include report from primary school. 29
M ASS APPEAL EXERCISE 3. Physical Disabilities Submit assessment from qualified medical professional. It should clearly describe the extent of disability (temporary or permanent) and type of assistive device currently using e.g. wheelchair 30
M ASS A PPEAL EXERCISE • Proceed to the Mass Appeal Exercise booth on the left side of the hall when this briefing ends. • Collect an application form, complete it and submit it with the necessary supporting documents through us: By 12 noon on 20 th Dec 2018 (today) • Each student is only allowed to submit one application • Please note that if you are successful with the mass appeal application, you will not be allowed to reject the offer and request to be admitted back to Queensway Secondary School 31
R ELEASE OF MASS APPEAL RESULTS • Report to our school on 2 nd Jan 2019 (Wed) • If successful, student will be given the new school posting letter and be asked to report to the new school • If unsuccessful, student will remain with our school 32
A PPEALS FOR TRANSFER TO INDEPENDENT / SPECIAL ASSISTANCE PLAN / AUTONOMOUS SCHOOL • Please apply directly to the school you wish to transfer to • If successful, obtain a letter of acceptance from the school, and then come back to us to get endorsement of release from Queensway Secondary School 33

M OTHER T ONGUE (H IGHER C HINESE L ANGUAGE ) • Students who are interested in taking Higher Chinese Language (HCL), please speak to Mr Lim (HOD/MTL) at the back of the hall after you have done your registration • HCL is offered to our students from Sec 2 onwards. 35
O THER LANGUAGES • For enquiries on other languages (e.g. Higher Malay Language, Higher Tamil Language or 3 rd Languages, please speak to Mdm Esther (SH/TL) at the back of the hall after your registration 36
O UTCOME OF 3 RD L ANGUAGE APPLICATION • At the registration table, students who had applied for 3 rd Language studies will receive the outcome of their application. • Students who are successful will receive a letter and have to follow the instructions as stated in this letter. • They must report for registration on 28 Dec (8.30am to 5pm) at the Zonal Centre or Language Centre 37
EXEMPTION FROM MOTHER TONGUE • If a student was previously exempted from taking Mother Tongue in primary school, please bring the letter of exemption to school on 2 nd Jan (Wed) and submit a photocopy to the Form Teacher. 38

A PPROVED S HOES AND SOCKS • Shoes: Canvas shoes or track shoes with white shoe laces and predominantly white ( at least 75% white) • School shoes are encouraged ( Note: No striking or luminous colors are allowed ) • Socks: Prescribed school socks or plain white socks (No multi-colours/stripes) 44

S CHOOL SMART CARD • Use Primary Level School Smart Cards till end Apr 2019 • Students can still purchase the Bus Concession Pass (BCP) using their Primary level SSCs but they would need to purchase the BCP for Secondary School students . 46
T RANSIT L INK E -T RANSPORT V OUCHERS • For students who have been receiving e- transport vouchers in primary school, the school will issue a letter to you by Week 3 of 2019 on the procedures to take. 47
