  1. QINO MANAGING A LIQUID BULK TERMINAL IN 2012 Charles Smissaert | Botlek Tank Terminal Martin Keulemans | Brainum BV

  2. AGENDA  Introduction  Information Integration  BTT and QINO

  3. INTRODUCTION CHARLES SMISSAERT  Charles Smissaert (1969) is the General manager of Botlek Tank Terminal.  Prior to joining Botlek Tank Terminal, Charles Smissaert held various commercial, technical and operational positions at Vopak in the Netherlands and other countries.  Prior to joining Vopak, he worked for Bluewater Energy Services as Business Development Manager in Singapore and Project Manager and Proposal Engineer in the Netherlands.  Charles Smissaert has a Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Delft University of Technology

  4. BOTLEK TANK TERMINAL  Botlek Tank Terminal is a 50/50 joint-venture of HES Beheer and Noble Group (www.btt- rotterdam.nl)  Botlek Tank Terminal just finalized phase one of building a state of the art tank terminal in the port of Rotterdam.  The first phase has just become operational and comprises of 130.000 CBM for clean fuels and 70.000 CBM for edible oils and Biodiesel.  A second phase, which will be constructed on reclaimed land, will add another 350.000 CBM for clean fuels is planned to be operational by 2014.

  5. Delivering fully integrated software solutions for the Liquid Bulk Industry

  6. INTRODUCTION MARTIN KEULEMANS  Martin Keulemans (1967) is co-founder and managing director of Brainum BV, a Dutch provider of management software for Liquid Bulk Terminals. Brainum was established 6 years ago, as a spin-off from a large Liquid Bulk Storage company.  Prior to starting Brainum, Martin Keulemans joined Capgemini for more than 10 years, during which he held various positions in Account – and Project Management.  After obtaining a master degree Mechanical Engineering at Delft University of Technology (the Netherlands), Martin worked for Grundfos, a world-wide leading manufacturer of pumps.

  7. Flexible, quick on our Delivering operational Complete focus on IT solutions for tank feet and boldly and commercial value through fully integrated terminals adapting as we go. IT solutions built on Independent team deep business who partners as understanding. needed. Delivering fully integrated software solutions for the Liquid Bulk Industry

  8. TODAY, MOST TERMINALS HAVE A FRAGMENTED DATA AND APPLICATION LANDSCAPE  IT landscape being heterogeneous Action lists Sales &  Most business “domains” having their Trading purchasing own application and database Quality  Departments working in information Shift planning Personnel “Silo’s” Supply & Demand Line-up Document planning planning management  Applications not connected – loss of data Volume Nomination accounting Checks planning  Data and process duplication and inconsistency causing ineffective and inaccurate decision-making. Maintenance Movement planning Incident Management  Communication & interface problems causing various problems

  9. … AND MOST TERMINAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS LACK BUSINESS PROCESS & INFORMATION INTEGRATION Information layers KPI - dashboards 5 ERP 4 Order management 3 Process Control 2 Field 1

  10. QINO TERMINAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM Provides full business process & information integration  One database, web-based, online & 24-7 real- Qino fully integrates all time access, onshore and offshore information layers  Everyone (in, -external) works with the KPI - dashboards same information 5  Better decision making – all relevant information instantly available ERP 4  Workflow based - status driven & control Order management 3  Structured and connected processes Process Control 2  Exchange of tasks between employees in predefined workflows Field 1  All relevant information converges in dashboards

  11. INTEGRATION BETWEEN ALL LAYERS Provides stakeholders direct on-line access to real-time information  Web based access for client & stakeholders (stocks, order & movement status, financial status)  Web based access for suppliers (transport, surveyor) for planning purposes (ETA, view planned work)  Automatic generation of documents (Bill of Lading, Customs, EMCS)

  12. BTT AND QINO

  13. BTT Business vision: Improving operational safety Prevent incidents, optimize work processes, monitor equipment status Comply with regulations and guidelines Being in optimal control Know exactly what is going on at the terminal(s) Have clear visibility on order status – from order to cash Increasing profit Translate strategy into tactical and operational improvements Optimize tank utilization through clear visibility of future Supply and Demand Achieving commercial advantage over competitors Optimize supply chain, offering real time client (order) status data

  14. SELECTION CRITERIA FOR BTT TMS – MUST HAVE Interfacing: Functionality:  ERP/Finance  Order to cash  Customs management  Stock management  DCS  Route management  Pipeline history and stock management  Online and realtime information and order entry

  15. SELECTION CRITERIA FOR BTT TMS PARTNER – MUST HAVE  Domain knowledge of the tank terminal industry  Proven track record  Flexible partner

  16. SELECTION CRITERIA FOR BTT TMS – NICE TO HAVE Functionality:  Safety management  Incident reporting  Permit to work  Document management  Maintenance management  HR-management

  17. QINO AS THE DIRECTOR OF INFORMATION IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN (“SPIDER IN THE WEB”) QINO

  18. THE COMPETITIVE EDGE FOR BTT  Immediate, upfront information there when needed  Full customization of specific business processing, creating that extra competitive advantage  Reduction of cost from misinformation, excess resources and optimization  Integrated ERP  Compliance  Efficiency hence Profitability

  19. AGGREGATING INFORMATION INTO QINO’S CONFIGUARABLE PERSONALIZED DASHBOARDS  Status of all relevant processes immediately visible  Alerts are automatically generated and distributed  View important exceptions and relevant key performance indicators  Drill down to any underlying detail

  20. LINE UP PLANNING  Calculating routes automatically  Taking into account previous and future orders  Taking into account equipment status (maintenance, contamination)  Orders and line-up sent automatically to DCS

  21. CUSTOMER ACCESS  On line access for Customers  Real-time information on orders  Real-time stock information

  22. CONCLUSION  Start realizing that a terminal plays a role in the supply chain – not only physically but also data wise!  Model your (internal, external) processes taking into account data requirements of all stakeholders  Modern IT systems provide workflow and data integration functionalities  Automation is the key to optimizing and controling safe and eficient tank terminal operations  Integrated IT helps you to manage the challenges of the terminal – and helps you to focus on the big picture
