Proposal: Housing Advisory Committee….Key Points • Consistent, reliable source of continuous and meaningful input from the people of Minneapolis • Diverse representation: wards, city departments, landlords, with an emphasis on resident tenants, persons experiencing homelessness, housing advocates, and representatives from other sectors. • Charges the City Council committee on Housing with the responsibility of committee composition oversight. 4
In conclusion… • Housing and development is: • an economic issue, • a public health issue, • an environmental issue, and • a social and racial justice issue. • The time is right for meaningful, continuous engagement and cross-sector solutions. • Quality, healthy, affordable housing must be a top priority for policy makers, and the public, private, and nonprofit sectors must collaborate to ensure dignified homes for all. 5
