What is P&A? Federal law requires that each state and U.S. Territory establish a protection and advocacy system. KY P&A is the established agency in Kentucky. – state government.
Mission of P&A Promote and protect the rights of individuals with disabilities through legally based individual and systemic advocacy and education.
Who is P&A? 23 staff Attorneys Non-attorney advocates Support staff Statewide Adult and Children/Youth Teams
Can P&A help me? P&A can help any person who has been discriminated against because of his/her disability.
What does P&A do? Information and Referral Education & Training Technical Assistance Legal/Non-Legal Representation Self Advocacy Outreach Publications System Wide Advocacy
P&A does not do… Criminal trials Divorce Child support/custody claims Personal Injury claims Getting disability/SSI Fire teachers/principals/superintendent/cafeteria ladies

How do I register? Obtain a voter registration form; fill it out and turn it in. – Local Driver’s License Office – Local County Clerk’s Office – P&A – State Board of Elections (http://www.elect.ky.gov/register.htm
When do you need to compete voting forms? Registering to vote for the first time Change your political party Change of your name, or Move to another address

Don’t forget to bring ID! Picture ID Credit Card Social Security card
Voting with a Guardian? You may need to review the guardianship order to determine if the retain the right to vote. If not, the individual can petition the court (AOC-795) to ask the court to restore his/her voting right. http://www.kypa.net/Guardianship.html
