Promoting Workforce Innovation & STEM Through JROTC in Mississippi
Mission Statement College Options Foundation is a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) organization that is dedicated to enriching the academic development of high school students while assisting cadets in their preparation for higher education, career readiness and talent retainment-- in order to reduce Mississippi’s brain drain. COF’s emphasis lies with serving all families, including military families and students who participate in JROTC. To accomplish this important mission, COF provides resources for college admissions and funding, develops project based learning experiences, creates on campus learning exposure, college exam study guides, admissions tutorials and personalized counseling-- as well as industry internships that lead to career opportunities that foster Mississippi’s success! Created in 1916, the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps JROTC motivates students to be better citizens. JROTC teaches students character education, student achievement, wellness, leadership, and diversity of culture and ideas.

• Who am I– and how do I put a spin on College Options in Mississippi? • My job is to host fundraisers and lobby to get bills passed in support of College Options Foundation – in order to host STEM camps and classroom maker spaces . • However, we are College Option(s) Foundation for a reason
Every Student is Not College Potential • We all have gifted children. • Although we offer ACT preps, many talented students are not great “test takers”. • At COF, we hone in on what our students are great at and what they enjoy doing the most. • Therefore, we focus on a workforce development platform through STEM. • This is what I call pulling out the “hidden genius”. Destiny is not just going to come your way. You have to recognize opportunities and seize the day!
