  2. Project Team CUNY ‐ Manages project from inception through the Design • Development Phase. Final decisions on design/program elements and in maintaining the project budget. DASNY ‐ Acts as the construction administrator for the project. • Administers all contracts for construction, project finances and holds property deed. SOM ‐ Architect in charge of programming, designing and will • follow the project’s development through completion and occupancy. Turner Construction ‐ Construction Manager for the new building. • This joint venture with SOM was formed to monitor the costs at each of the milestones of the project.

Scope • 629,000 square feet • 13 stories • Essentially designed to replace North Hall • Consolidates most of the campus one full city block • Campus gross sq.ft. will increase from 730,856 sq.ft. to 1,130,634 sq.ft. (Not including North Hall) • Gross sq. ft for John Jay increases from 44 sq. ft. to 59 sq. ft. per F.T.E. (Full Time Equivalent) • Mixed use building consisting of classrooms, computer and science facilities, academic departments and offices, academic support services, student services and activities. • Largest CUNY capital project ‐ over ½ Billion Dollars • Building expansion capabilities

Tentative Schedule for Completion • Lower four floors to be completed , Summer June 20, 2011 • Tower Project completion and owner occupancy starts by November 22, 2011. • Temporary Certificates of Occupancies will be issued: Concourse : floors 1 ‐ 4 ‐‐‐‐ June 22, 2011 Tower : floors 5 ‐ 13 ‐‐‐‐ August 19, 2011 Owner occupancy ‐‐‐‐‐ November 22, 2011

  26. New Building Art • An art committe was organized to select artists for the new building . • Budget ‐ $ 800,000.00 (Includes all expenses) • 3 Artists Selected ‐ Alfredo Jaar for 59 th Street entrance ‐ Ralph Helmick for new computer hub ‐ Nobuho Nagasawa for 11 th Avenue entrance hall (By Black Box Theater) • Student Art will also be displayed throughout the new building spaces such as The Cascade

  27. Other • Grand Opening in October 2011. Date, time and location to be determinated. Committee will be established to develop the opening celebration. • Continued use of North Hall ‐ Several Academic Departments will need to remain in North Hall until their spaces are ready to occupy in Haaren and BMW buildings • 6 th floor in BMW and spaces in several floors of Haaren Hall will need to be renovated to accommodate Academic Departments that do not fit in the new building

  28. Tentative New Building Move Schedule • Move consultant has been retained by DASNY • Professional moving companies will be hired for the new building move • Move policies being developed by John Jay • Boxes will be provided to everyone and anyone with special needs will be receive assistance for packing • Phase I of move ‐ Summer 2011 will include: ‐ Department of Public Safety ‐ DOIT ‐ Facilities Management Dept. Offices + Shops ‐ Children’s Center ‐ C.E.L.S
