Interview Preparation Guide Case preparation for interview* Dear Applicant, In order to help you in the refugee sponsorship process, the Office for Refugees at the Archdiocese of Toronto in Canada compiled this guide for your upcoming interview at the Canadian embassy (or high commission; visa post). 1. Do submit to the embassy and copy the office for refugee with all evidence as soon as possible before the interview, proof and document that can be important about: • your refugee story (even if you have just news, or new development); • potential persecution in the future; fate of persons in similar situation like you (for example relatives • who were recognized as refugees anywhere); Available on Facebook Canada Group and archtoronto.org website Make sure you have copies of ALL submitted forms and documents (USB) 6

Update request IRCC visa office Update type Time has passed the visa office’s processing time as it is indicated on 1 or by IRCC email and no interview yet. □ 3 months have passed since the interview and no travel arrangement 2 has been made. □ Change in: 3 • contact information (address, email, phone number) • family composition □ • correction in spelling of name, DOB other • 9

Update request – ORAT Update type 1 More than 6 months has passed since the resettlement application has □ been submitted to IRCC and neither email confirmation has been received nor online file is available. 2 Withdrawal : To request whether the Office for Refugees agrees to withdraw an □ application fill and attach the Withdrawal form from the Retainer Agreement. 3 Add dependant: In order for the office to agree on adding an additional □ dependant family member submit new applications with all IMM forms and additional financial liability. 4 One year window (oyw): To request the processing of arrived refugees’ family □ members within 1 year, fill in IMM5571 and attach all completed IMM forms along with additional financial liability coverage. 10

Check Resettlement Status • IRCC website: www.cic.gc.ca (choose language) • On the right hand side of the screen: Check Application Status • Select an application type: choose ‘Refugees’ category • Hit the Check application status button • Read the conditions and then check the box and click on the Continue button • Select one of the Identification Types : Unique Client Identifier (UCI) number or Immigration File Number and fill in the data • Type in the Family name of the principal applicant • Select Date of Birth and Place (country) of Birth from the drop down menu • Hit the Continue button 11
