  5. Our needs and aspirations (Why literacy and numeracy) Explore other ways and methods to foster and nurture literacy numeracy  dispositions through learning experiences. Networking with other Educators/Teacher and sharing ideas in regards to  Literacy Numeracy in Early Childhood Education. Resource development through shared sources during professional  development. Support and develop parents knowledge as they are children first teacher  Increase parents awareness about their vital role and the impact of family  involvement. Encourage teachers to role play stories during the day to be more effective in  developing literacy numeracy skills. In relation to current research on the development of Literacy and numeracy  for young children

Where are we now…… LITERACY Meaningful interactions with children using open ended questions.  High Quality programme planning.  Parents involvement in the planning.  Stimulating and quality literacy learning experiences.  Resource development using own ideas including natural, junk material, and  heuristic play. Reflect, evaluate and make changes to the programme.  Help children built and use their new words adding to their growing  vocabulary. Building children’s self esteem and confidence to perform in front of people 

  7. A Samoan Perspective on Literacy Everyday Discussions, Beliefs and Values, Main medium of Legends and Myths, Instruction Biblical stories We are the best Resource!! "Fafaga fanau i upu ma tala. Tautala i lau gagana: ‘Feed the children with words and stories. Speak your language’ It is a Samoan position that feeding the children with words and stories is critical to acquiring high proficiency in Samoan literacy. Speaking Samoan constantly in different contexts is considered essential in its maintenance and growth. Samoan, as in any language is mastered through regular use. A high vocabulary size in Samoan is necessary for academic success and a strong sense of self.
