EL ELDER ER: A person 65 years of age or older. DEPEND NDENT A NT ADULT: T: A person between the ages of 18 and 64 years who has physical or mental limitations that restrict his or her ability to carry out normal activities or to protect his or her rights.
Most common type of elder abuse reported to Adult Protective Services: Self Neglect (about half) Followed by: Financial (23%) *There is frequently overlap among types of abuse.
Total Cases Reported in FY 15/16: 7,314 Total Cases Reported in FY 14/15: 6,823 Total Cases Reported in FY 13/14: 6,201

53 presentations in FY 15/16, reaching 1,138 professionals and 573 elders. Types of presentations included: mandated reporter trainings, scam prevention presentations for seniors, topic-specific trainings (aka “Elder Abuse by Professionals,” “Elder Abuse Prevention and Cultural Humility"), conference presentations, and hosting of conferences. 15 Forensic Center Meetings 6 Multidisciplinary Team Meetings 33 New Cases 6 Follow-Up Cases
Train professionals on spotting, preventing and reporting abuse. Teach elders how to protect themselves. By coordinating Forensic Center Meetings and being out in the community, learning latest elder abuse trends. Becoming a valuable resource for media. Serving as an elder abuse prevention and resource hub for the region and the state. Being a model for nonprofit-County collaboration and coordination.
