POSTER PRESENTATION GUIDELINES Submissions close: 9 December 2016 Places offered by: 28 February 2017 Final delegate registrations close: 1 July 2017 A poster is a method of presenting your work to conference delegates, in a visual format. It is also a great alternative way to contribute to the conference and offers a more relaxed format than a traditional conference session. A poster is a great way to present a project, research, story or perspective, that delegates can browse and engage with, at their own pace. As a conference poster presenter, you will have a unique opportunity to combine visual and oral explanations of your work, as presenters will be allocated a short time during the conference in which they can discuss their work with delegates, alongside their poster. Organisations and/or individuals may submit any number of posters for consideration . However, it is noted that any or all of these may be accepted or declined on an individual basis. Poster Size All posters presentations must be PORTRAIT orientation. Poster must be A1 size (594mm x 841mm). Poster Content All poster proposals must be relevant to Mental Health in a Western Australian context and where possible should suit the theme “ Integrated Lives ”. Poster proposals should ideally have clear links to one of the three formal conference streams : o Emerging Practices o Dignity and Diversity o Wangkiny Danjoo Kwop Wiirrin (Working together in good spirit) Western Australia’s premier sector -wide mental health learning and collaboration event • Conference Dates: 13-14 July 2017 • Location: Perth Concert Hall • E: conference@waamh.org.au • W: waamh.org.au/conference • T: (61) 08 6246 3000
Consider the following when designing your poster: o Is the project/work clearly described? o Does it include an explanation as to why this work is important? o Is the thinking original/innovative? o Is the approach sound? o Do the findings add new knowledge to the field of enquiry? o Is it visually engaging? o Does the poster grab your attention? o Is it easy to read (including from a distance)? o Check there are no spelling/grammar errors or undefined acronyms. o Have you provided your contact details? For further information on designing and presenting a poster there are various websites with helpful information. For an example please click here. Poster authors choosing to attend the full event are required to register as delegates and pay the standard price . While we sincerely appreciate presenter contributions to the event, the reality is that a conference of this scale may have 80-100 presenters, facilitators and panellists, in total. It would not be possible to offer all these people reduced registration fees without significantly increasing fees for other delegates. The Conference Reference Group has decided to prioritise people with lived experience and regional delegates with high travel costs, for the allocation of our limited subsidies. People’s Choice Poster Prize Conference delegates will be asked to choose a poster to receive the People’s choice poster prize. The winning poster will be announced at the end of the conference. Assistance For general enquiries about poster submissions, please contact Cath on (08) 6246 3020 or charper@waamh.org.au . People with lived experience of mental illness are encouraged to participate. Potential participants who need support or assistance in planning or preparing their submission are invited to contact our Engagement Support Officer Carli on (08) 6246 3002 or csheers@waamh.org.au.
