To be employable is to be secure.” ◦ Peter Hawkins – The Art of Building Windmills

  20.  Application process starts with the upcoming AS examinations.  Universities may use AS results to help them make offers.  The AS can be used as an indicator of performance. ◦ An AS is weighted as 40% of an A Level on the new UCAS Tariff system. ◦ Not all schools are doing AS, so universities can not use AS marks against you. ◦ BUT BUT, they can provide evidence for a good prediction.

  21.  Y13 UCAS SPOC (student voice) results.  Every year in response to the question: ◦ “What are the weaknesses of the UCAS programme?”  We see the comments: ◦ “Not enough time to complete the application” or “start the application sooner”.  These students usually have not done their research in the summer of Year 12 and struggle to do this once Year 13 has started.  From Registration to Final Deadline = 7 months!

  22.  Open Days  Work Experience  Summer School / Master Classes  Entry Requirements / Admission Tests  Scholarship Examinations  Early deadline – Oxbridge, Medics etc  Early interviews in autumn term
