Mission Statement • The City of Bloomington Planning and Transportation Department has a very important mission: To ensure that the elements that make Bloomington special are maintained and enhanced as new development and redevelopment occur. In order to ensure that our community retains its unique qualities, it is important to proactively plan for the impacts of this future development by guiding the form and function of the built environments and land uses with the natural environment in order to sustain Bloomington’s high quality of life. Responsibilities of f the Department The Department of Planning & Transportation is responsible for: • Preparation, update, and implementation of the Comprehensive Plan • Update, administration and maintenance of local zoning, development, and traffic regulation codes • Planning, design, and implementation of local multimodal infrastructure projects and • Review and issuing of permits.
