He was moving to an ategi shared lives home in Aylesbury and wished to do a number of community activities. With support from a Personal Assistant – this client will attend the Halton Tennis club, Rock Choir and the Pottery club. 8
Buckinghamshire County Council Good news stories A 33 year old lady with a dual sensory loss. Has recently moved into the County with her 3 children aged 10, 8 and 6. A Personal Assistant was found to help her carry out tasks within the home & accompany her to the shops each week. Support was required to become more aware of her local area, to attend a social club, and support to accompany the client and her children to their various evening clubs. 9
Buckinghamshire County Council Good news stories A young carer aged 21 with dyslexia was struggling to find employment. He cares for his Father who has MS. Carers Bucks support Young Carers and referred this client to Brokerage who supported him to find a full-time paid role at a Sound & Lighting company based in Milton Keynes. 10
Buckinghamshire County Council Good news stories A 55year old profoundly deaf man has been supported by Brokerage to secure a part-time job at Bucks Care Day Centre in Chesham. He’s not had a job for 7 years and at that time his pay was £3/hour. 11
Buckinghamshire County Council Good news stories A 39 year old lady with usher’s syndrome is married and has 2 young children. Her condition has deteriorated. Post-operative complications has led to significant sight loss and poor balance. A Personal Assistant provides support with household tasks, personal care, meal preparation and enables the client to safely use the gym equipment to improve balance, fitness and general well-being. 12
