Are you up for the challenge?
Yes? Petroleum Engineering may be for you
What is a Petroleum Engineer? • We meet the world's energy needs • We provide the ingredients for modern life • We help reduce greenhouse gas emissions • We are at the forefront of new technology • We are paid well and work all over the world.
What does a Petroleum Engineer do?
Exploration Working with geologists, geophysicists and other geoscientists to seek out new oil & gas, geothermal energy and CO 2 storage reservoirs
Reservoir Engineering Determining the size of the oil & gas discoveries and design production process Developing complex simulations of the behaviour of oil & gas fields.
Drilling Engineering Designing and managing the drilling of wells to access the discoveries; Using special tools to take samples and measure the properties of rocks deep under the earth.
Production Engineering Designing the processes for producing oil & gas resources and overseeing their smooth, safe and economical operation.
Petroleum Engineers are helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 50% – 67% 80% – 90% 90% – 100% reduction reduction reduction

... there has been an age and experience gap in the oil and gas industry for quite some time now. Some of the previous price busts resulted in a brain drain… This has created the need to find good replacements and get them up to speed rather quickly. We are yet to fill this gap.
