  1. Past, Present and Future

  2. Historical Perspective  Based on the data, these areas have had the greatest longevity but many are low enrolled:  Allied Health – Ongoing online. Difficulty hiring faculty. Administration of Justice – All online. Verde  market is strong. Was low enrolled face to face.  Agriculture (Greenhouse and Animal Science) – Mostly low enrolled in Verde with lecture taught via ITV from Chino Valley. Instructors come over for face to face labs in Verde every other week.  Automotive – Last offered in 2009. YC had lease agreement with Mingus High School. Cancelled for low enrollment. Lease not renewed . Still strong in dual enrollment.  CNA – Taught in summer when nursing program doesn’t have classes.  Welding and Welding for Artists – Last offered in 2009. Cancelled for low enrollment and problems with lease agreement with Mingus High School instructor.  Equine – Cancelled for no enrollment in on ground classes (Verde), currently students are online less two courses. Current enrollment online Verde: 2 Sedona and 1 Cornville. Comparison: 11 Prescott, 6 Prescott Valley, 5 Dewey, 4 Chino Valley.

  3. Historical Perspective (Continued)  Fire Science – 4 straight years of declining enrollment in the Fire Academy which is run in the Verde at the Fire Center. 11 Students this spring. Used to make with 24 all the time. Dual enrollment cutting into adult market to some extent but it takes 5 years or more to get on.  Accounting, Business, CSA – Bulk of programs went online college-wide and that is where the enrollment is. Makes sense because of competition.  EMS – Always strong in Verde and taught on ground. Usually 24 per semester in two classes.  VIT/Enology - Still showing between 2-4% growth each semester.  Nursing – 16 Slots per semester. Only one Verde applicant spring 2014. 16 applicants Fall of 2014 and 15 applicants Spring of 2015. Probably about where it will be. Lost clinical coordinator funding from VVMC starting spring 2015. Having difficulty finding instructor for clinicals.  Early Childhood – Taught via Face to Face and ITV. Would not make without enrollment from West County.  Digital Film – Director departed when program started to decline. Never really recovered. Had one year uptick then many complaints. Currently Dean Perey working to modify.

  4. What else works in Verde?  OLLIE  College for Kids in the summer (coming back)  Gen Eds in online format (same issue college-wide). Students say they want on ground but they register for online.

  8. What the JTED has tried that closed down at various secondary schools  Pre-Engineering at Mingus High School central campus model – cancelled for low enrollment (Twice). Students take AP so no schedule room for high end CTE Elective. Also lost instructor.  Medical Transcription and Terminology – Cancelled no instructor found  Certified Youth Employees – Cancelled no instructor  Hospitality – Sedona, Cancelled no instructor  Auto – Sedona, Cancelled for low enrollment  Building Trades – Mingus, teacher left, program closed  Early Childhood – Mingus, Instructor left not replaced  Law and Public Safety – Mingus (Grant funded, lost funding, age restrictions)  Education Professions – Mingus, Instructor left not replaced  Photography – Mingus, Instructor left not replaced  Web Design – Mingus, Cancelled program due to low enrollment  Radio Broadcast Production – Mingus, Instructor left not replaced

  9. What works well for VACTE JTED (and dual enrolled)  Automotive – Mingus, Camp Verde  Welding – Mingus (Not dual enrolled)  Agriculture – Mingus, Camp Verde  Firescience – Camp Verde, Mingus  CNA-Mingus, Camp Verde  Equine – Mingus, Camp Verde VACTE is not structured like Mountain Institute so they don’t attend a Central Campus model at YC. Everything is dual enrolled and taught at the high schools. Very difficult to change existing funding model as cash flows directly to districts.

  10. YC Capture Rate of JTED Completers from the County
