ParaPay Community Presentation 0
What is ParaPay? • A personal account to pay your fare when using Para Transpo • You simply book your trip and ride! • No need to carry cash or a Presto Card • Your fare is automatically paid when you book your trip • If you cancel, you will be reimbursed • You can have money, a monthly pass or both on your account • You can update and/or deposit money in your account by using the following methods: • Online • On the phone • In Person • By mail 1
Types of ParaPay Accounts • ParaPurse is used when you do not take enough trips to make buying a monthly pass worthwhile, so you pay per trip. Money from your ParaPurse account can be put towards the cost of a monthly pass in the future. • ParaPass is the same as buying a monthly pass. The electronic pass is put on your account allowing you to travel on Para Transpo for the month. 2

Paying My Fare 1. When is my fare payment taken from my account? • ParaPurse: When you buy per ride trips the fare is taken from your account when you book the trip, or the day before for regular (subscription) bookings. • The fare is automatically reimbursed in your account if the trip is not taken. • ParaPass: When you load a monthly pass it automatically appears in your account for that month. 6
Paying My Fare 2. Can I still use cash, tickets, paper passes or Presto to pay my Para Transpo fare? • Cash will always be an option for fare payment on both Para Transpo and OC Transpo. • OC Transpo will soon be discontinuing use of all paper fare products including tickets as we continue to get Ready4Rail. • Customers who only use Para Transpo: • Activating your ParaPay account is strongly recommended as a hassle-free payment option. • Customers who use both OC and Para Transpo: • Best to use a Presto card (you must carry the Query receipt to verify the fare on the card when travelling on Para Transpo). 7
Paying My Fare 3. What if I don’t have enough money in my account? • You will not be denied a trip, but your account will be in overdraft • Your overdraft will be reconciled once money has been added to your account • If money is not added to your account we will make arrangements with you to collect the unpaid fare • You can always pay your fare using cash. 8
Boarding a Para Bus or Taxi with ParaPay 4. Do I show anything when I board a bus or taxi? • No. You do not need to show anything as we will know who has paid for the trip and who is required to pay. 9
Cancelling or Missing a Trip 5. What happens if I cancel a trip or miss my bus or taxi? • The fare you paid is credited to your account immediately when the bus or taxi operator records that you did not take your trip. 10
Getting a Refund 6. Can I get a refund on my ParaPass or ParaPurse? • Yes. Refunds will be provided according to the original method of payment used. • ParaPass: Refunds will be given in a pro-rated daily amount: 14 days before and after the first day of the month. • ParaPurse: Refund in full at any time. No partial refunds. 11
Managing Your ParaPay Account 7. Can other people help you to manage your account? • Yes. Family members, agency or group home staff, support persons or friends can assist customers with their account. • Online: You can give permission to someone you trust to use your password and client ID number. This gives them full access to your account. • Phone and In Person: People acting on your behalf can only deposit money. They will not get refunds or can not request your account balance. 12
Checking My Account Balance 8. How do I know if I have enough money in my account to take a trip? • You can check your balance online, by phone or in- person. • A family member, friend or support person can check your account balance on your behalf online with login information provided by you. • You can also request your balance when you book your trip. 13
