Les représentants des P.C.N. français et allemands, ainsi que les structures d'accompagnement seront également présents et aideront à la mise en réseau des participants. However, while working is generally considered as the best way to avoid poverty, this is not sufficient for almost one out of ten European workers. This report produced by the European Social Policy Network (ESPN) shows that addressing in-work poverty remains a key challenge — in spite of the wide array of existing policies and policy reforms underway. Page 5 sur 23 • The professional status of rural women in the EU This study, commissioned by the European Parliament’s Policy Department for Citizens’ Rights and Constitutional Affairs at the request of the FEMM Committee, gives an overview of the professional status of rural women in the EU, as well as their employment situation and position in the labour market in rural areas in most relevant Member States. Page 6 sur 23 Agriculture Consultations • Agriculture – simplified EU approval scheme (block exemption) for state subsidies Under EU rules, governments of member countries must notify state subsidies to the Commission. They cannot grant the subsidy until it has been authorised by the Commission. However, subsidies that comply with the EU’s Block Exemption Regulation are exempt from this proced ure. The current Regulation expires on 31 December 2020 and therefore needs to be reviewed to ensure that any new Regulation is consistent with EU agricultural policy.
