Highlights of last year for OSS • Overall we had a successful year • Appointment of Elaine Klimasko as acting Artistic Director • New programs: viola, cello (this year: guitar) • New projects: Pirates (this year: Magic Flute), others • Successful on-going projects: SB Tour, Summer Camp • Lots of special events: concerts, playdowns, recitals
Changes in Monday group class Faculty • Kit Barham stepped down from SB • Michael Fry and Setareh Beheshti have left. (We expect Setareh to return) • We welcome Lisa Moody as JPG group class teacher, and as new OSS faculty member. • Ania Hejnar is now a group class teacher. (She was on OSS faculty last year)
Other Changes in Faculty • Private lesson teachers no longer on faculty: – Gillian Carrabre – Serhii Vyhovskyi – Olena Vyhovska
SB Tours - Volunteers • Both Cuba (July 2013) and Minneapolis (May 2014) occurred during the last fiscal year. • Initiatives such as this cannot happen without volunteers! • Deanna Donohue, Volunteer Coordinator • OSS cannot be a great school without your volunteer energies!
Administration • Maria Balakrishnan stepped down as Operations Manager • Judy Ginsburg (Administrator) • Iain McPherson (School Coordinator) - stepping down soon.
Board of Directors • We lacked a Treasurer last year – please contact us if you are interested! • Vicky Barham, founding president, retiring from the Board • OSS Re-registered under the new Canada NFP Corporation Act
OSS: purposes of the Corporation 1. To advance education by establishing and operating a music school for the instruction of children in music, inspired by the method and philosophy of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki; 2. To educate and increase the public's understanding and appreciation of the arts by providing concerts and performance tours in and outside Canada; 3. To advance education of teachers who wish to continue their education through mentoring and coaching programs, lectures, and training courses.

The school aspires to become widely recognized for the quality of its pedagogy, and for the achievements of it students and faculty. • Our school has an inclusive culture, where students are encouraged to strive for personal excellence. We seek to create opportunities for all children, including those who face specific challenges. • In the practice of our teaching, and in our operations as a school, we will nurture strong parent-teacher-student relationships with close ties to the community. We undertake to foster, recognize and appreciate the contributions and achievements of our members. We will support our members’ development through an active program of individual and group study and performance.
