Definition: Harassment, Intimidation And Bullying
Violates the law if it is: Any gesture, any written, verbal, or physical act, or any electronic Definition communication whether it be a single incident or a series of of H.I.B. incidents that: 1. Is reasonably perceived as being motivated by either any actual or perceived characteristic…or By any other distinguishing characteristic; and that
Violates the law if it is: 2. Takes place on school property, at any school-sponsored function, on Definition a school bus, or off school grounds of H.I.B. that (a) substantially disrupts or interferes with the orderly operation of the school or (b) the rights of other students; and that
Violates the law if it is: 3. One of the following: q Effect of physically or emotionally Definition harming a student or damaging the student’s property, or placing a student in of H.I.B. reasonable fear of physical or emotional harm to his/her person or damage to his/her property; or q Effect of insulting or demeaning any student or group of students; or q Create a hostile educational environment for the student by interfering with a student’s education or by severely or pervasively causing physical or emotional harm.
