Overview • The City of Sachse received a request from the City of Rowlett regarding the formation of a coalition of non-member entities • Rowlett requested that each of the non-member entities approve a resolution expressing an interest in the formation of a coalition • Review of North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) structure, details about customer entities, and more specific information about the request from the City of Rowlett
NTMWD Structure • 13 Member Cities: • Farmersville, Forney, Garland, McKinney, Mesquite, Princeton, Plano, Rockwall, Royse City, Wylie, Richardson, Allen, and Frisco • 14 Customer Cities: • Fairview, Fate, Josephine, Kaufman, Little Elm, Lucas, Melissa, Murphy, Parker, Prosper, Rowlett, Sachse, Sunnyvale, and Terrell • 20 Special Utility Districts
NTMWD Customer Entities • No representation on NTMWD Board of Directors • Not invited to attend general member meetings • Water rate is five cents higher than member cities
Request from City of Rowlett • Rowlett hosted a meeting on November 18 with the non-member customer entities to discuss the relationship with the NTMWD • Following the meeting, the City of Rowlett issued a letter inviting the 34 non-member entities to join a coalition • Rowlett asked that each entity present the information to their respective legislative bodies for direction
