There once was a Superintendent in Richland TWO; He had so many magnets he wasn’t sure what to do; So he added four more with the help of MSAP; What a great way to keep this premier school district on the map!
Med Pro 21 Magnet Grant Funded by the Magnet 4 Schools Schools Assistance Bridge Creek Rice Creek Program (MSAP) Kelly Mill Ridge View STEAMM Science, Technology, 5 year grant Engineering, Arts, Math, Medicine 11.2 million
What does this mean? Bridge Creek, Rice Creek, Kelly Mill and Ridge View are now Full School Magnets! ● Students zoned to these schools continue to attend as always ● Students currently “choicing” to these schools do not have to reapply ● Students from across the district can apply via magnet choice to attend these schools ● Existing school-within-a-school programs are still in place ● ALL students attending these school get to participate in the wonderful STEAMM curriculum and activities
Bridge Creek MED Medical, Engineering, and Discovery through the Arts ● Implementing engineering curriculum and creating an engineering robotics laboratory ● Creating a Medical Laboratory in partnership with USC and Palmetto Health Hospital to support student health and wellness ● Expanding arts program to include new instruments, dance and art media
Rice Creek SAiL School of Academics, Innovation and Leadership ● Introducing engineering curriculum at lower grades and STEM emphasis at upper grades ● Collaborating with USC to develop strategies to promote student health and wellness ● Increasing STEM based opportunities through the expansion of outdoor classroom
Kelly Mill Med Pro Magnet School ● Creating a mock “Minute Clinic” with Palmetto Health to introduce students to medical careers ● Designing an outdoor learning center with theater, weather station and collaboration stations ● Implementing an extended day program for students needing additional instructional support
Ridge View AiMS Arts Innovation for Medical Sciences ● Collaborating with USC School of Public Health and Palmetto Health Hospital to design a medical simulation room ● Providing advanced medical classes focusing on cell biology, disease and other biomedical topics ● Enhancing the arts program by setting up a black box theater and providing a variety of guest artists
