PURPOSE: This training will identify and provide intent and supporting guidance for reviewing and implementing the eight new and updated CY18 CDC Programming Inspection Criteria. What is NEW? 2 New Components • C.3.a.2 • C.3.a.3 6 Updated Components • C.3.g.1-6 CYP is a CNIC Fleet and Family Readiness Program
NEW Component: C.3.a.2 – Direct care staff interact responsively with other staff INTENT: To ensure that staff communicate appropriately in interactions among one another: tone, words, and body language. CYP is a CNIC Fleet and Family Readiness Program
NEW Component: C.3.a.3 – Systems support children’s transitions INTENT: To ensure that there is a documented system in place to support children’s transition from one age group to another, including transitioning from the CDC to SAC. Method Guidance: Review the child transition documentation. There are systems in place to support children as they transition to different age groups and classrooms. CYP is a CNIC Fleet and Family Readiness Program
What is an UPDATED Component? Two or more inspection components from CY17 were combined (updated) in the CY18 Inspection Criteria. Therefore, programs are already implementing these requirements. For reference, the CY17 Inspection Criteria section contributing to the updated component is noted on each of the next slides. CYP is a CNIC Fleet and Family Readiness Program
UPDATED Component: C.3.g.1 – CYP Professionals plan/implement activities for infants, pretoddlers and toddlers that support the five domains INTENT: To ensure implementation of the Creative Curriculum, including development of activity plans using MyTeachingStrategies, in conjunction with the Objectives for Development & Learning, that support the five domains required for infants, pretoddlers and toddlers. In CY18, this component captures several CY17 components that were addressed under Activity Plans (C.2.e). Each domain and age group was listed separately in CY17. CYP is a CNIC Fleet and Family Readiness Program
UPDATED Component: C.3.g.2 – CYP Professionals provide materials, routines and an environment that support the five domains INTENT: To ensure that materials, routines, and environments are established in accordance with the Creative Curriculum, using the Objectives for Development & Learning, to support infants, pretoddlers, and toddlers. In CY18, this component captures several CY17 components that were addressed under Activity Plans (C.2.e) and Learning Environments (C.2.f) and Indoor Materials (C.2.g.). Each domain and age group was listed separately in CY17. CYP is a CNIC Fleet and Family Readiness Program

UPDATED Criterion: C.3.g.5 - Environments are organized and materials are accessible INTENT: To ensure classroom materials and children’s belongings are organized and accessible to children. Method Guidance: Observe the indoor learning environments. There are enough materials and supplies to support the number of children in the activity room. Duplicates of toys are available for infants and toddlers. Toys and materials are displayed on low, open shelves. Toys and materials are labeled. Materials are in good repair and are discarded as needed. This content was reviewed in Learning Environments (C.2.f) and Indoor Materials (C.2.g) in CY17. CYP is a CNIC Fleet and Family Readiness Program
UPDATED Component: C.3.g.6 – CYP Professionals provide opportunities for learning outdoors INTENT: To ensure outdoor learning opportunities are provided for all children, including infants. Method Guidance: Observe the outdoor learning environments. There are sufficient materials for multiple children. There are a variety of gross motor and physical play materials. Outdoor experiences are planned to support the developmental domains. Staff encourage children to move and try motor skills. This component was combined from five CY17 components under C.2.h. CYP is a CNIC Fleet and Family Readiness Program
