Ketogenic diets in Norway • MCT-diet (and Radcliffe diet) • Used sporadically until 1998 • Classical ketogenic diet (KD) • 3-4 cases per year from 1997-2004 • Systematically from 2005, based on protocols from Denmark (Filadelfia) and Sweden (Karolinska) • Modified ketogenic diet (MKD) • In children from 2009, based on Johns Hopkins and Danish (Filadelfia) protocols • Adult patients from 2010 • Low glycemic Index treatment (LGIT) • A few cases after a successful period of the classical or modified ketogenic diets
Diet initiation 2018 41 diets initiated in 2018 • 22 children/adolescents • 19 adults MKD attend keto-class • 6 groups for adults • 2 groups for children/ adolescents GLUT1-DS = GLUT1 deficiency syndrome PDHD = Pyruvate dehydrogenase deficiency
Treatment and diagnoses 127 patients under active treatment • 65 children/adolescents • 62 adults
