N ATIONAL W EATHER S ERVICE We accomplish this mission by providing warnings and forecasts of hazardous weather 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including: • Thunderstorms (Damaging Winds and Hail) • Flooding (Rivers and Low Lying Areas) • Tornadoes • Winter Weather (Snow, Sleet, Freezing Rain, Blizzards) • Extreme Temperatures (Heat, Bitter Cold, Frost/Freeze) • Impacts to Aviators The NWS is the sole United States OFFICIAL voice for issuing warnings during life-threatening weather situations.
