Tours Open Houses How to Schedule a Tour/Open House • Contact Middle Schools to get info how to sign-up – Each school will have a different sign-up system (online, telephone, etc.) – Some schools will have several tour dates available; others will have one day for an Open House – Tours & Open House sign-up starts in late September/early October with tours taking place from October to December.

  13. Sample Application – Front Page Any changes to student information must be updated in ATS – SEMS will then change to reflect and a new application can be printed directly from SEMS

  15. Things you need to know - EVERYONE • The schools on your Middle School Application will be determined by the address listed in the DOE system, ATS • All PS 29 Middle School Applications will at-least reflect District 15 Middle Schools.

  16. Things you need to know – if your home district is not District 15 . • Your Middle School application will reflect District 15 choices AND the middle schools that are in your home district. • The Middle School Guides of your home District will not be available at PS 29. When they are made available they will be online and in your home Districts Office of Student Enrollment.

  17. For Application Accuracy…….. Make sure that your child’s name and mailing address is correct in the NYC DOE system, ATS. This is to be done in person in the Main Office. Changing the mailing address on the blue card IS NOT ENOUGH. You must provide Maureen Monaco with a current gas or electric bill so that she can update the information.

  18. Applications will be sent home with your child and you will receive notice via e- mail. Typically, applications are distributed in November and due back mid-December.

  19. Items needed for the Testing/Interviews **Testing/Interviews typically take place between January-March, it varies from school to school.** Hang on to and make a few copies of the 4th grade report card. They will be needed next year when your child starts the interview process.

  21. District 15 Placement Offers • Placement Offer Letters are sent out after ALL students have been interviewed • Your child will be offered ONE placement which will be based on the choices you make on the application, school criteria, school interviews & space availability

  22. Appeals • If you’re dissatisfied with the placement offer your child receives, you will have an opportunity to appeal the placement • Appeals are another opportunity to apply for the school of your choice • An appeal is not a guarantee that you will get the placement you requested and are often times based on the availability of space in a school and student performance during the interview
