Civil Engineering and Utilities
KIK Underground Utility Contractor • Original Contract Amount - $285,268 • Amount Billed - $248,758 • Removed the power to lift station from the contract and hired KDM to complete this work • KIK was not equipped at the time to complete this work
McMahon Contracting, L.P. • Original contract amount - $235,000 • Amount billed - $336,084 • The cost of excavation, flex base, additional pavement and drainage pipe was higher that the original contract amount. • The concrete walking path behind the community center was originally to be completed in house by Public Works. Due to time constraints and other projects, this was not possible. The project was given to McMahon to complete.
KDM Facility Services, Inc. • Additional unforeseen electrical services: $100,885 • Installation of light poles for the Community Center parking lot, and lights along walking trail (removal and reinstallation). • Note: the new parking lot lights and trail lights are all LED • Lift station rack and power. • Electrical conduit from Sachse Rd. to the Community Center that was removed from the KIK contract. • Emergency repair of security parking lot lights behind the Police Department.
Next Step • Staff is requesting to allocate $100,000 from the sale of Old City Hall towards the $118,787.34 in change orders on the Michael J. Felix Community Center. • Staff is requesting to allocate an additional $182,000 from the Utility Fund towards the Community Center project.
