Making Metaphors Work – Part 1 Developing Your Own Metaphors 1. Find a story, incident, or slice of life which had an impact on you. 2. Read it over or go over it once mentally. 3. Let it settle in – at least over night 4. Recall it again and notice: What are the major themes? What other associations (other incidents, stories, etc. ) do they stimulate in you? 5. Let it settle in again, overnight. 6. Tell the story. (Realize it’s a “once-only” performance. The next time you tell it, it will be different. ) Transform the World
