  7. Advisory Door Decorating Contest Continue decorating your advisory classroom door with positive, anti-drug/alcohol use messages! Let’s promote this positive initiative for everyone in the school to see! Decorating will take place this week with judging on Friday, October 26th (before the Pep Rally!) 8

  8. Red Ribbon Week - Tomorrow’s Theme Note: All clothing must be school-appropriate. If you are not wearing regular school uniform, then your attire must reflect the theme of the day.   11. PEP RALLY REMINDERS STUDENTS: ● Do not bring anything to the gym (no backpacks, phones, devices, etc…) ● Sit with your class and grade level (follow any adult directions). You WILL return back to class before end of day dismissal. ● PARTICIPATE! ○ Cheer and ROAR…...When prompted! ○ When anyone is on the microphone, be silent and respectful! TEACHERS: ● WAIT for grade specific announcement for dismissal both TO and FROM pep rally. ● LOCK your doors when you leave. Students belongings are there! ● SIT or STAND with your class/grade. Spread out among the students. :) ● PARTICIPATE! ○ Cheer and ROAR! ○ Encourage student participation ○ Redirect student behavior as needed. ALL: Be sure to leave clear space/aisles in front of DOORWAYS for safety .

  22. Attention SENIORS! Extended Essay Students The library can help keep you on track with ... Research Citations Make an appt to meet with Mrs. Formatting MacWatters if you need help. The final draft of your EE is due by November 8; this is the paper that will be sent to IB!

  23. We will be having a Film Club meeting this Thursday (10/25/18) in Mr. Miske’s room (2.13). Bring ideas for a short film, we will be submitting to SXSW film fest this year!

  24. Attention High School Students! Do you experience anxiety in noisy environments / large crowds? If yes, email Mrs. Holcombe (s.holcombe@mwschool.org) right now if you would like to read a book in the Black Box Theatre during the pep rally on Friday. This option is NOT open to students who simply do not desire to go to the pep rally. This is an option only for those who are sensitive to loud environments and have a true need for this accommodation. Thank you for your principled cooperation!

Meridian is only allowed to nominate one student from the class of 2020 who plans to attend Renssalaer for the Renssalaer Medal Award for an Outstanding Math and Science Student.

  28. Power Chat Opportunity for HS Girls: Calling all high school girls! Be a VIP! Each year, GEN hosts a VIP session at the We Are Girls Austin Conference. The session is attended by GEN supporters who are leaders within the Central Texas community and includes Power Chats with high school girls, where girls have the opportunity to speak with these community leaders directly! The leaders who will be present are engineers, entrepreneurs, real estate agents, lawyers, and more, who work at companies like Apple, Main Street Hub, Samsung, Lexus, and HomeAway. The Power Chat VIP session is from 10am - 1pm on Saturday, November 3rd at Anderson High School. The session is open to girls in grades 8-12 who are interested in meeting community leaders, sharing stories, asking questions about careers, and learning from each other. We welcome girls who would like to come speak with relatable role models to learn more about career paths and practice professional skills in a safe environment! Lunch is included!
