Greater Bristol Bus Network 4 year £70m project delivering now: • 10 bus corridors with 60 services • 944 improved bus stops including raised kerbs providing level access • Over 120 new low floor buses with reduced emissions • 301 bus stops with real time passenger information displays • 22 junctions with bus priority signals • 8.6km of new bus or priority lane

Rail • Rail usage is low in the West of England – 1% of all journeys to work (2001 census) • BUT trends have shown the potential impact local rail travel can have • 44% increase in rail journeys last 5 years • Severn Beach Line has ridership up 22% since 2006 • More frequent service and reliability issues: problems with capacity and rolling stock • West of England Partnership responded to Great Western Route Utilisation Strategy Consultation today

  9. Cycling • 4% of journeys to work (2001 census) • 50% growth in cycling since 2003/04 • 50% of car journeys in the city are under 3 miles ‐ the challenge is to get those drivers cycling • “Sea change” in the way bikes and cycling are perceived • Cycling City ‐ £22m investment
